Batch Convert HEIC to JPG: Queue, ZIP and File Checks

Last updated

Prepare a batch of HEIC photos, manage the 30-file queue and check the extracted JPG files before sharing.

Why trust this guide

  • Written by JW Tool Box around the actual workflow or linked tool on this page.
  • Updated when browser behavior, file handling, or platform dimensions change in ways that affect the steps.
  • Focused on practical settings, safe defaults, and real tradeoffs instead of generic filler.

Use the HEIC converter when several photos need the same JPG or PNG output settings. The current queue holds at most 30 files, converts them sequentially and packages the results into one ZIP. For your first photo, use the single-file walkthrough.

Prepare the batch before selecting files

Give different source images different base filenames. For example, receipt-front.heic and receipt-back.heic produce distinct outputs. Two files named IMG_0001.heic from separate folders can target the same ZIP entry; the current converter does not automatically rename duplicates. Rename copies before selecting them and keep originals separately.

Start with two or three photos to check compatibility and output quality on your device. Large image dimensions can consume substantial memory even when the compressed input file looks small.

Manage the 30-file queue

  1. Select a small batch of original HEIC/HEIF images.
  2. Check the selected count and names in the queue.
  3. Choose JPG or PNG. JPG defaults to 85% quality; the quality setting applies to the whole batch.
  4. Click Export as JPG ZIP and wait for completion.
  5. Extract the ZIP and compare the output count and filenames with your source list.

Adding more images appends them until the 30-file cap. Extra files are not retained in the queue. Use Clear and start another batch for additional photos; there is no per-file removal control in this tool.

Check the downloaded files

Open at least the first, last and a detail-heavy image, and check every image when the files matter. Confirm orientation, dimensions, readability and the format required by the recipient. Choosing PNG can produce significantly larger files. A ZIP's compressed size is not the size of each image inside it.

If a destination limits photos to 200 KB, use the image compression workflow on extracted copies. JPG conversion by itself does not enforce a byte limit.

What happens if one image fails?

The current batch process stops on an error before saving its final ZIP. It does not export a partial-success archive. Clear the queue and try one original file at a time to identify the failing input. Then convert the working files in a new batch. The HEIC troubleshooting guide covers invalid files, decoder limitations and memory pressure.

What a batch export does not preserve

This is a still-image workflow. If the decoder returns multiple images from one input, only the first is retained. Do not rely on the output to preserve Live Photo motion, depth data, HDR appearance or source metadata. Keep originals for archival use.

Image contents are converted locally; page analytics and ads operate separately under the Privacy Policy. Completion time varies with your browser, device and photos. There is no fixed seconds-per-image guarantee.
